Welcome Kindergarten 2023 Students!
This webpage contains information for children (and their parents / carers) enrolling in Kindergarten in 2023. The school has booked in four transition sessions where you will have a chance to meet the teachers, Principal, try on uniforms, find out details for OOSH and chat with other parents. You will receive a enrolment pack during the tranistion sessions with everything you need to know about starting school!
Coming up:
Session 1: Transition Day & Bookweek parade. Term 3 Week 6 Thursday 25 August, 2022. Parents and carers are to stay at the school during this orientation. The first transition day will start at 9.30am where the children will spend an hour with the teacher while the parent/carers can talk to the Principal, teachers and other parents while enjoying a morning tea. There will be information on OOSH available as well as the uniform shop open from 10.15am to try on sizes and pre-order ready to be picked up in Term 4. The children are invited to dress up in their favourite costume. Between 10.30am - 11am the students are invited to join into the schools Bookweek parade as well as the Family Bookweek lunch from 11am - 12pm.
Session 2: Transition Day. Term 3 Week 8 Tuesday 6 September, 2022. Parents and carers are to stay at the school during this orientation. The second transition day will start at 9.30am where the children will spend an hour with the teacher while the parent/carers listen to a presentation about our school and book a time for their enrolment interview with the Principal. The uniform shop will be open again to try on uniform sizes for ordering.
Session 3: Transition Day: Term 4 Week 3 Wednesday 26 October, 2022. Parents and carers are encouraged to drop off at 9.30am and pick up at 10.30am for this session. The teacher will meet the children at the front gate, spend an hour with them before bringing them back to be picked up from the front gate.
Session 4: Transition Day. Teddy Bears Picnic Term 4 Week 5 Wednesday the 9 November, 2022. Parents and carers are encouraged to drop off at 9.30am and pick up at 10.30am for this session. The children will participate in some fun filled teddy bear themed activities in the school hall. Activities such as decorating their teddy bear, making teddy bear head bands and making teddy bear biscuits.
We will confirm transition activities and send more information about these to families closer to the date.
Transition activities provide the opportunity for our 2023 Kindergarten students to meet other students and teachers and also play some games. If parents/carers need assistance completing the enrolment process please contact the office. Garden Suburb Public School requires 100 points of residential address evidence before enrolment can be confirmed. The transition days are a good chance to bring with you any remaining documents or clarify enrolment details.
The P&C will have some uniforms to try on sizes and will help you with the ordering process during the transition days.
The 2023 Kindergarten students will all complete a Best Start Assessment with a teacher at the beginning of 2023. They will be held over Tuesday 31 January - Thursday 2 February 2023. More information about the Best Start Assessments will be communicated during the presentations at transitions. Parents/carers can book a time for this assessment during the transition sessions.
FIRST DAY OF KINDERGARTEN 2023:
9.15am start on Friday 3 February, 2023 - pick up at 3pm from the front gate. We ask that parents/carers please come in through the front gate and wait in school grounds for the teacher.
